About

I lecture at the Vancouver School of Economics and Sauder School of Business, University of British Columbia (UBC). Before joining UBC, I was an Assistant Professor at Memorial University of Newfoundland and Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu. I did my PhD in Economics from the University of Hawaii, Manoa.

My main research interest is in Environmental/Resource Economics, Public Finance and Healthcare Policy. My first paper published in 1998 introduces citizens’ participation in pollution permit trading and demonstrates how this two-sided market can achieve efficient solution even under the regulatory uncertainty about the cost of pollution control. Since then this paper has generated many follow-up papers.

At UBC, I teach a graduate course (MBA/MHA) in Managerial Economics and many other undergraduate courses.

I am originally from Bandipur, a small hill-top town in Nepal. During my free time, I take part in various Nepali community related activities in greater Vancouver area and in the U.S. I obtained my Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Hawaii, Manoa, USA.
