Dr. David Green
Two UBC economists, Dr. David Green and Dr. Craig Riddell, have been recognized for their research work this year with awards from the Canadian Economics Association.
At the CEA’s annual conference earlier this month, Dr. Green was named the recipient of the McCracken Award for Economics Statistics. According to the CEA, the award “recognizes theoretical and applied contributions to the development or use of economic statistics in Canada.” Dr. Green’s recent work includes the BC Basic Income Panel, long-standing research on the Canadian labour market, and COVID-related research at UBC. The award is handed out every two years and comes with a $2000 prize.
Dr. Craig Riddell, alongside Dr. Chris Riddell, was awarded with the Doug Purvis Memorial Prize. The prize is based on a publication from the previous year.

The pair won for their paper, Interpreting Experimental Evidence in the Presence of Post-randomization Events: A Reassessment of the Self-Sufficiency Project, published in the Journal of Labor Economics. The annual $15,000 award honours the late Canadian economist Douglas D. Purvis.
